About the author

My name is Richard Scott, I'm 18 and I'm currently studying a double degree in Civil Engineering and Commerce at the University of Melbourne (more about what I think of it later). I'm intensely interested in cars like every young male, and I'm mildly interested in sports and technology.

What is this?

This is my latest online experiment to motivate myself to be more productive. As I've already mentioned, I'm interested in technology and online publishing is one of my interests. Recently, I've begun to find that I don't have many material evidence of what I'm getting out of my studies and thus lack the motivation one gains from such indications. I hope that writing and tracking my progress much in the form of a diary will motivate me and perhaps give some other people an interesting read! Enjoy!

The latest on money:

This is a more recent interest of mine that hopefully over summer I will be able to develop more and write some interesting things about it. For now, I have recently done a fair bit of research on interest rates Australian banks are offering on savings accounts as I'd like to maximise the returns on my savings and this is what I've come up with. I've developed a list of some to consider, some banks however aren't worth the thought!

Australian Interest Rates

Everybody goes on and on about the cash rate. By everybody I mean the media, and yes it is important but if you have no mortgage and you aren't a bank the only interest rate you'll be interested in is what you can get on your savings. Here's a list to start with!

The latest on study:

Exam time! I'm still building this website but I will be writing something on my opinion on Melbourne University shortly.

My last exam is Civil Engineering Introduction on 23 Nov 2007.

The latest on cars:

The Calibra is going strong and Top Gear is better than ever. I also just recently watched Jeremy Clarkson's latest DVD, Supercar Showdown and quite liked it. Top Gear is still a better watch, perhaps there is such thing as too much Clarkson?

The latest on technology:

I just did the training on Optus' new mobile broadband package, Optus Wireless Broadband. Two plans that cost $25 and $40, giving 400 MB and 2 GB of data usage respectively to be released in the near future.

What's coming?

So I created this website to write and that is what I will do, but before I get into that I need to finish the geek side of it by coding in some php!
